RUSSIAN ADOPTIONS

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on 28 December 2012 and it took effect on 1 January 2013. The Law bans citizens of the United States from adopting children from Russia.

Although that is not a blanket ban on overseas adoptions, the Russian goverment does not allow adoptions of their children into countries where they have the same-sex marriage law. This is because if an adoption breaks down they have no control of their children being placed in a gay family, which the present power is opposed to.

As of 2021 there is nothing certain and it will take a long time to reverse their standing rulings.
